In the Vehicle

In this information age, bus and train passengers expect to be provided with comprehensive up-to-date information about their route, transfers or timetable deviations. The latest multi-function display by Trapeze visualise these details and are an eye-catcher in every vehicle.

A wide range of prompt information makes local public transport much more attractive for passengers. The attractive, versatile multi-function display MFD G2 enables the control centre to keep commuters and visiting passengers informed about the current operational situation. References particularly to transfer connections give passengers valuable recommendations about their on-going journeys. Departure times are constantly updated in the case of disruptions or delays.

The dynamic data for the multi-function display (MFD) are prepared by the AVLC system and sent online by radio to the vehicle. In this way they can show current transfers at the next stop, severe delays, network or operational disruptions as well as alternative journey options. In addition, non-operational information can also be shown, such as information about cultural events, advertising or maps of the surroundings.

Route path

In addition to the current position, the next stops and terminal stop are also shown. As an option, the whole journey can be shown as route path.
Journey times: the passenger knows how long the journey will probably take.
Transfer advice: this makes it easy for the passenger to transfer to other means of transport.
Transfers: the next departure times for buses, trams or trains facilitate the passenger's on-going journey.

Modern AVLC systems send the data to the IBISplus computer in the vehicle which prepares the information and sends it to the MFDs. The MFDs are capable of processing large quantities of data and visualising the information in colour, in high resolution and in motion! Designed as single or double display signs, they fit in perfectly with our AVLC system and supplement the other components for dynamic passenger information before and during a journey.

The new MFDs can also be used in partnership with other companies, for example on the tourism or advertising sector.
The multi-function displays also offer many advantages to transport companies that have not yet installed an IBISplus on-board computer in their vehicles.
Thanks to the optional vehicle bus connection, the components can be integrated in such vehicles without any problems.

Route path sequence

The route path sequence is the most important guide for passengers. It shows them which route they are currently using, where the vehicle is at this moment in time, which direction it is travelling in and where it will stop next. The time is also stated so that passengers know exactly how long the journey is going to take to their destination.

Transfer screen

This display provides information about transfer possibilities at the next stops, including connections for other companies together with the operator's own transfers. The transfer screen shows not only the departure time and departure position but also current details about delays, breakdowns, etc. Here the MFD G2 differs from display signs made by other manufacturers.

Passenger information

This information panel draws information to special situations (accidents, changes in the run, road works) either just the once or recurrently.

Specific location or time-related information
One pioneering new possibility consists in providing specific information en route that refers to tourist attractions or local services.

Advertising pictures or videos
The MFDs can be used to show advertising in the vehicles, thus generating additional earnings.
The advertising is shown alternately with the passenger information. However, the system entails a priority function so that important passenger information is always given preference to advertising content. If a double screen is available, the advertising can also be shown parallel to the pattern sequence.

Sizes and shapes
The multi-function displays are available as flat screens in various sizes for installation as single or double signs. The high standard of workmanship means that the display signs can be used in adverse environments, and they work reliably even under heavy loads. The maintenance workload for transport companies is minimal.
