Successful UITP World Congress for Trapeze
Neuhausen am Rheinfall, 2 May 2011 – Trapeze can look back on a highly successful UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition in Dubai. A large interested public from the Near and Far East as well as from Europe and overseas visited the Trapeze booth. The company presented trend-setting complete solutions for public and private bus and rail transport in the field of planning, vehicle location & control, vehicle equipment and passenger information. Also the two Trapeze presentations on “Eco-Driving: The easiest way to save fuel” and “Dynamic Passenger Information – added value for passengers and public transport authorities alike” were well attended.
The UITP World Congress from 10 to 14 April 2011 was held for the first time in the MENA region. Some 2,000 delegates from 80 countries attended the congress and about 9,700 persons were interested in the products and services offered by the 252 exhibitors from 37 countries shown in the concurrent trade show. The attendees included numerous ministers, officials, CEOs and high-ranking managers from transport companies.
Trapeze presents broad portfolio
At its booth, Trapeze displayed innovative and high-quality solutions and products for optimised planning and efficient bus and rail transport operations, including comprehensive transfer protection. These trend-setting complete bus and rail traffic solutions met with lively interest.
Latest developments
One particular highlight of the Trapeze portfolio on show was the newest-generation Multi Function Display MFD G2i. These display screens present a wide range of information on routes, transfers and timetable deviations – coloured, animated and up-to-the-minute. Moreover, they satisfy all the requirements in connection with infotainment, for example news or advertising.
Furthermore, Trapeze presented its modern Web Display Feed solution, which combines dynamic passenger information with Internet messages of current interest. On the one hand, this application offers passengers comprehensive information on the routes served and the next departures at major stops or at central pedestrian passages. On the other hand, transport companies can convey interesting additional information and, for example, display a map of the stop surroundings.
The presentation of a Text-to-Speech solution for passengers with poor eyesight met with a particularly lively response. It allows voice messages to be generated as required and can be installed on the Trapeze displays at stops. At the push of a button, the current display contents will be read in clearly understandable spoken language.
The newest tools in the field of passenger information shown by Trapeze included up-to-date Internet solutions and mobile phone applications. On the one hand, these applications offer passengers comprehensive mobile information on the routes in service and the next departures. On the other hand, passengers can have a map of the stop surroundings displayed.
Quality optimisation and management decision-making
Besides its proven control technology, Trapeze also presented its new planning and analysis tools for quality optimisation and management decision-making. These include on the one hand ActiveForms+, a tool with automated action templates for quick and effective responses in trouble situations. On the other hand, they comprise the Business Intelligence module, which is enjoying increasingly brisk demand and has been designed to provide extensive information for strategic and operating management of transport authorities. Also on show were the newest IT solutions for Asset Management in the fields of workshop management and fuel allocation planning plus Eco-Driving / Driver Training for sustainable environmental protection, higher passenger convenience and lower fuel consumption. This tool enables public transport companies to make a sustainable contribution to protecting the environment.
From its extensive portfolio, Trapeze presented its solutions for flexible and transparent staff dispatch and automatic wage accounting. Also on show were integrated solutions for planning and dispatch applications in transport companies operating fixed route and demand response services as well as IT tools for optimising the dispatch of drivers and vehicles. Leading-edge vehicle equipment such as the IBISplus on-board computer and various user terminals for use inside vehicles rounded out the presentation.
