Trapeze ITS Takes Action to Streamline Business and Increase Efficiency
NEUHAUSEN AM RHEINFALL, SWITZERLAND, 25 November, 2009 – Trapeze ITS, a leading provider of solutions for public passenger transportation, today announced that after a thorough review of cost levels it is taking action to streamline the business through a reduction in its workforce. This action is being taken to help secure the company's long-term competitiveness. The workforce reduction involves approximately 110 Trapeze ITS employees, primarily at the company's main office in Neuhausen, Switzerland. As an important center for development and production, Trapeze ITS’ main office will continue to be located in Neuhausen, Switzerland.
Hans-Peter Schär, Managing Director, Trapeze ITS said, “Today’s action is in response to changing market conditions. We have carefully reviewed the business and believe that by taking this difficult action now, we can be well positioned for the long term.”
The workforce reduction is expected to result in a leaner, more focused business with a strong customer focus. As a separate operating company of the Trapeze Group – a company with significant expertise and long standing investment in the transport market – Trapeze ITS can continue to deliver innovative products and solutions to the market that customers value.
With 600 workers at present, Trapeze ITS expects to complete the workforce reductions by June 2010. Eligible employees may receive reorientation, retraining, early retirement arrangements or other support programs where appropriate.
